Lloyds of London uncorks booze ban for employees

The City of London is reeking of sober outrage after Lloyd's of London announced a ban on alcohol consumption during working hours. The company has reportedly informed employees that they are no longer free to booze it up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., a move company representatives claim is in line with industry norms. But the BBC somehow managed to dredge up some staff members to call the new measures "heavy-handed." In a wonderful quote from one employee, whose hands may or may not have been shaking, asked "Will we be asked to go to bed earlier soon?" On a more serious note, the insurance market justified the booze ban after finding that half of its grievance and disciplinary cases over the past two years were alcohol-related.
