The Czech Republic's most powerful politician, Andres Babiš, has acknowledged that the biggest obstacle to continued economic growth is a lack of people. "Our biggest problem is that there aren't enough people to occupy vacant jobs," he said at a recent meeting of the country's export council. One of the solutions suggested by the man expected to become prime minister was to bring in qualified foreigners. He was opposed in this by Jiří Havlíček (ČSSD) who warned the foreigners would take jobs from Czechs. But with unemployment at its lowest level in two decades, Babiš believes that the government's main role is to invest and reduce bureaucracy. Babiš also hinted that the switch from Czech koruna to euro won't happen anytime soon.
