Average wages in the Liberec region grew 7.3 percent last year to CZK 32,550 making it among the best paying in the region. Workers in other sectors around Liberec improved more quickly, but they started from a lower based. Employers have reported increased difficulty finding new staff, with employment offices listing more jobs available than they have people on their unemployment lists. Lidové noviny gives the example of Bombardier Transportation, which plans to expand its production in Česká Lípa by adding 600 people. The company is looking for them in Ukraine, in Belarus and Serbia. "We're taking people with little experience we're teaching them and training them ourselves," says production director Milan Pešek.
