Motorway planning permit attacked in court

The Czech Highway Authority recently secured planning approval for a 23 km extension of the D52 motorway between Brno and Vienna. And so it was no surprise that the Children of the Earth civic initiative filed a complaint against the approval to delay the beginning of construction. Its chairman Miroslav Patrik claimed the permit had been issued too quickly in an attempt to influence last week's elections. He claimed that it hadn't been shown that the permit was in harmony with the local master plan, adding that it would be better to connect the motorway to Vienna through Břeclav.
