Automobile production in the Czech Republic fell 1.5 percent over the first six months of 2019 to 747,000 vehicles. According to the Czech Automobile Industry Association, Škoda Auto turned out 469,974 cars (1.5 percent less than in 2018) while Hyundai in Nošovice completed 160,400 cars, which was a 6.3 percent decline. TCPA, on the other hand saw its output rise 5.9 percent in the first half of 2019 to 116,633 cars. Domestic sales fell 7.9 percent overall, even though exports remained on roughly the same level. "Given that our producers are focused primarily on export, the high level of competitiveness of Czech vehicles is seen quite well on major markets, especially in Germany. We'll see what the coming months will bring, but we still believe that if there are no dramatic changes in the economy, annual output for vehicles could be just a few percentage points below 2018 levels," said the director of SAP Zdeněk Petzl.
