The Hungarian construction sector showed signs of improvement between March and June, surpassing levels seen in the previous three quarters, according to the latest EBI Construction Activity Report. However, the value of the projects entering the construction phase in the first half of 2019 amount to just HUF 1 trillion, the lowest level since 2016. The value of non-residential projects that started between April and June totaled HUF 231bn. They included the SK Innovation battery factory, Pillar, BudaPart City, the Doosan copper foil factory and Bozsik Stadium. Meanwhile, the report points to a slowdown in multi-unit housing projects. Projects that broke ground in in the first six months of the year totaled HUF 127bn, down 40 percent y-o-y.
