IMF approved $46m loan to Moldova

The International Monetary Fund has approved a $46m loan for Moldova based on improvements the organization says the country has made in structural reforms and achieving macroeconomic stability. The new government has been working on an anti-corruption platform under Prime Minister Maia Sandu since June 2019. The funds from the loan will support continued economic and financial reforms.
“The Moldovan authorities have taken decisive corrective measures to bring the Fund-supported program back on track and to achieve its objectives of ensuring macroeconomic stability and advancing reforms,” said Mitsuhiro Furusawa, IMF Deputy Managing Director. “Going forward, it is critical that the authorities continue to pursue prudent policies and structural reforms aimed at strengthening the financial sector, maintaining fiscal sustainability, and creating space for social and infrastructure spending.”
