Adria Airways filed for bankruptcy this week, leaving passengers stranded after all flights were canceled. The filing also has put 558 people out of work. The Kranj District Court, where the petition was filed, is expected to make a decision on whether to open bankruptcy proceedings within the coming days. The Slovenian-based airline company is owned by Germany’s 4K Invest. “We have carried out a precise analysis of the situation in Adria and found that the financial gap is significantly higher than expected," said Slovenia’s economy minister, Zdravko Pocivalsek, adding that it would cost €28m to bail the company out.
