Brno's chief architect's office has set rules for the development of the city's development zone south of the center. "It will be clearly defined how the district will look, how the city blocks will look, what the ratio of housing, offices, retail and services and greenery will be," said Brno's deputy mayor Petr Hladík "We want to create complete district that will become a real link between the future station and the historic core," he told iDnes.cz. The city has laid down the law for developers, down to details such as the construction of nursery schools, something the developer J&T claims it has no problem with. "Cooperation is very good, they're trying to move ahead with the zone with a single urban concept," says J&T's marketing manager Jiří Ochec. The developer is planning to build three blocks of flats, offices and shops on a four hectare plot. Once known as South Town, the project has been renamed "Trnita."
