Prague's assembly approved a loan of several plots of city land to the city's transport company (DPP) as a way of speeding up preparation works for construction of its new metro line. The city's politicians approved the land loan in Nusle, Krč, Libuše and Písnice in a move that should allow DPP to submit construction permit applications before the end of the year. Prague's leadership is trying to keep its campaign pledge to move forward on key infrastructure projects. The new metro line is expected to cost CZK 57bn, with contractors of the first two stations due to be selected next year. No actual construction work is currently underway, but crucial geological surveys finally began over the summer. In the first phase of construction, new stations will connect Písnice in Prague 4 with Nový Dvory, the Krč hospital and the Pankrac station on the C line.
