Uniqa has reached an agreement with its acquisition of the Polish unit of Axa, as well as those in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Axa, which has insurance and pension fund activities in the region, was sold for a reported €1bn. Reuters broke the news that Axa would be leaving the region back in October, describing it as part of a restructuring effort on the part of the company. The issue does not appear to be related to its business in the three countries, as the company was profitable. The Czech and Slovakia units employs 527 employees and have a retail customer base of 1.6 million. In Poland, Axa employs 1,600 and had 3.2 million customers.
