Only 4.4 million passengers flew from Otopeni Airport in Bucharest in 2020, given that, a year ago, the number was approaching 15 million. The decrease reflects the disastrous impact that the pandemic has had for the travel industry. Only in the first two months of 2020 saw an increase in traffic at Otopeni, at that time the pandemic was not yet at the alarming levels it has reached since March. Since April, traffic dropped by 98% compared to similar periods in 2019, according to the Bucharest Airports National Company.
