Retail sales down 2.3% in October

In October 2020 Poland’s retail sales at constant prices were by 2.3 percent lower than the year before (against a growth of 4.6 percent in October 2019), according to Statistics Poland (GUS). Compared with September 2020 retail sales increased by 2.1 percent. In the period of January-October 2020 retail sales y-o-y were by 3.0 percent lower (against a growth of 5.6 percent in 2019). In October 2020, the largest decrease in retail sales (at constant prices) compared to the corresponding period of 2019 was noted by entities selling solid, liquid and gaseous fuels (by 13.4 percent against a growth of 2.5 percent the year before), according to Statistics Poland.
