The development company Prologis is building a logistics park near the D1 motorway near Ostředek in the Benešov region. It plans to build three buildings with a total built-up area of 43,000 sqm, the value of the investment was not disclosed by the company. The complex will include the distribution center of Zeppelin CZ, which is a seller of construction, earthmoving, agricultural and mining machinery and energy systems, according to Michal Vrba, Vice President of Prologis and Head of Project Management in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The developer is now building the first building with an area of 9,000 sqm, to be completed in the first quarter of next year. At the beginning of next year, the construction of the remaining two buildings with an area of 13,000 and 21,000 sqm could also begin.

Half of the first building will be used by Zeppelin CZ. Stanislav Chládek, CEO of the company, announced that it is important for the company to deliver spare parts for construction machines to customers on time, if possible within one day of ordering. Until now, supplies from as far as Belgium have been used for this purpose.

"Concentrating stock in Ostředek will help us supply our customers with maximum spare parts within 24 hours, not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Slovakia and Austria," added Chládek. According to him, thanks to the new center near Ostředek, 20 jobs will be created.

Finding suitable land near the D1 motorway was not easy according to Vrba. "We spent more than three years before we got to this point. The situation is getting harder and harder. We're glad we did," he said. According to him, the new logistics center at the 34th kilometer of the D1 has an ideal location, among other things due to the small distance from Prague. "This location makes sense to us and is strategic," added Vrba.

According to the mayor of Ostředek, Marek Škvor, the project will help to develop the village. He pointed out that the village is building a water supply and sidewalks and needs money for a treatment plant. The annual budget without subsidies is around five million crowns, the sale of land gives the municipality an additional millions of crowns. According to Škvor, the creation of new job opportunities for local people should also be positive.
