Iain Child has taken over as Managing Partner at Penta Investments after Slovak police raided the company's headquarters in Bratislava and arrested its co-owner Jaroslav Hascak. Hascak has refuted any criminal wrongdoings and vowed to take all necessary legal steps in order to clear himself. But in view of the current situation, he resigned from his position as Managing Partner. Iain Child will manage the company's buy-out division, which is responsible for all of Penta's investment companies, with the exception of Penta Real Estate. Slovak media is speculating that the arrest is connected with secret recordings connected with the so-called Gorilla corruption scandal that dates back to 2005 and 2006. Among the companies controlled by Penta Investments are Vltava Labe, Fortuna and the Dr. Max pharmacy chain.
