La Cocoș Expands with New Hypermarket
La Cocoș officially opens, on September 24, its fifth Hypermarket, in Pitești, within the Supernova Shopping Center, in place of the former Carrefour store.
Founded in 2014 in Ploiești by entrepreneur Iulian Nica, La Cocoș is known for its low price policy and for being the first hypermarket in Romania to introduce the concept of three price levels, depending on the quantity purchased.
Until December 2024, the network operated as a family business. Since December 2024, the company has attracted a consortium of shareholders consisting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the investment funds Morphosis Capital and CEECAT Capital, which took over a 56% stake.
The new openings in Pitești, Craiova and Arad will bring the network to seven units by the end of 2025 and to estimated sales of approximately EUR 300 million.
