40 companies submitted bids for the five-billion tender of the Forests of the Czech Republic (LČR) for forestry work, logging and sale of 2022+ wood in the years 2022 to 2026, according to spokeswoman Eva Jouklová. In tender 2022+, the estimated value of forestry work is CZK 5 billion and the volume of wood to be harvested is five million cubic meters. Last year, 36 companies submitted 190 bids for the 2021+ tenders.

"In the tender for forestry activities and the sale of wood, Lesy České republiky began to evaluate 403 bids submitted by 40 companies. Successful bidders will work for the company from January 2022 under a five-year contract," said Jouklová.

According to her, companies submitted 78 offers for 12 growing orders, 325 offers for 34 orders related to forestry activities and the sale of wood.

The deadline for electronic submission of bids expired this morning, after which the company began evaluating them. The main task of the company is to manage the bark beetle calamity and regenerate forests after the calamity. Forests of the Czech Republic (Lesům ČR) own almost half of the forests in the country.

"We will prepare the five-year contracts for signing by mid-December at the latest, so that the work can start without any problems from January," said Josef Vojáček, CEO of Lesů ČR.

The tender is divided into 46 orders. In total, it covers an area of about 200,000 hectares, so it is less than a fifth of the forests managed by a state-owned enterprise. Annually, the companies that emerged from the tender should afforest about 15,000 hectares of forest.

The competitions are of two types. At 34 units, forestry companies will do the so-called complex order, ie afforest and harvest timber, which they will also sell themselves. The companies will only do cultivation work on 12 units, these will be localities in Moravia, where it is necessary to restore the vegetation after the bark beetle calamity. "The tender concerns 46 contracted territorial units. On average, 8.8 bids were submitted per applicant," said Jouklová.

The winner of last year's tender 2021+ for the years 2021 to 2025 was the mining company Uniles from the Agrofert concern. Out of 29 competing units, it won 12. The company Kloboucká lesní finished in second place with five signed contracts and the company Aclesia in third place with four contracts.
