According to a survey conducted by Ipsos for ING in 7 countries, the majority of homeowners in Romania (83 percent of those surveyed) say they have taken measures to improve the energy efficiency of their homes in the last 3 years. 46 percent of Romanian homeowners say they have improved their thermal insulation, 43 percent say they have reduced the energy consumption of appliances and 8 percent have installed solar panels.
For homeowners who have taken energy efficiency measures, saving energy costs was the main reason for doing so.

The survey also reveals that the 3 most important criteria in determining the price that Romanians who want to buy a house are willing to pay are, in order of relevance: proximity to amenities (e.g. shops, schools, medical services, etc.), energy efficiency and proximity to transport.
