Bohumín in the Karviná region began preparing land for family development in the city center. There will be 39 networked plots for the construction of family houses in the Petra Cingra, locality. The city would like to offer the first of these to those interested in a public auction at the beginning of next year, according to Jana Končítková, spokeswoman for the town hall.

Those interested will be able to participate in the bidding for 12 plots, which are being built on the site of the former housing colony. The city had the vacated houses demolished and prepared a project that would transform the entire area on the border of Pudlov, Nový Bohumín and Starý Bohumín over the next year. "The first part of the plots could go on the market after the new year. Each individual plot will have its own description, including historical burdens that must be taken into account during construction. land in advance so that they can prepare project documentation for the construction of their family house," said Mayor Petr Vícha (ČSSD).

Construction work on the undeveloped area has already begun. Water, gas and electricity supplies as well as sewers will be built. The construction of a new road, including public lighting, is also planned. The area must also be drained. Finally, the site is also going to plant greenery and build two playgrounds. Public spaces will also be modified, and a smaller park with a water surface will be created behind the future family houses. The cost of the project will exceed CZK 60 million.

The starting price of the plots that will go to the public auction has not yet been determined by the city. "People are now willing to pay twice for the land that used to be sold in Bohumín for about CZK 600 sqm. We assume that we set the price to reflect the current situation. The area of plots is not uniform, ranging from 750 to 1450 sqm according to our estimates, we could earn an average of one million crowns per plot," said Vícha.

The city expects that the land could be attractive especially for families with children, because there is a kindergarten and a school within walking distance, there are also shops, restaurants and a bus stop nearby. According to his management, it is important for the city that people build houses as soon as possible. "The specific date will be part of the terms of the sale. We have an obligation to the network administrators and also to the subsidy title. we would have to return the money," the mayor added.
