The owner of the DIY chain Brico Depot, the British retailer Kingfisher, is opening a second technological hub in Eastern Europe, in Cluj-Napoca.

During 2024, Kingfisher plans to employ 100 engineers in various positions in the hub in Cluj. The company aims to hire 25 people each quarter.

The group has another such center, opened in Poland in December 2022, with around 80 employees. The British DIY retailer Kingfisher had 5.7 percent lower sales on the Romanian market last year, in the first 9 months of the fiscal year. The 33 locally operated Brico Dépôt stores achieved sales of EUR 245 million in the 9 months ending at the end of October.
