Budimex wants to sign the first contracts in the Czech Republic, Germany and Slovakia in 2022, announced President Artur Popko. Budimex is also interested in acquisitions in these markets and is currently in talks with two entities.

"This year, we established special purpose vehicles in three markets: Czech, German and Slovak. We also want to prepare technical facilities for the execution of contracts. We are already participating in tenders for the implementation of infrastructure and railway investments. I assume that the first, positive decisions for us will be in 2022 year," said Popko ISBnews on the sidelines of the Economic Forum in Karpacz.

"In the case of the German market, the situation is somewhat easier, because we already have about 1,000 of our employees there who work as subcontractors of local companies," he added.

In the opinion of the president, this year is difficult, because one EU perspective ends and the funds from the new one are not yet at the disposal of individual governments.

"Budimex is interested in acquisitions in these three markets. We are currently conducting talks in the case of two entities, we are even in the due diligence process of specific companies in the Czech Republic and Germany. If they fit our business, we do not rule out talks about their acquisitions," indicated Popko.

Budimex has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 1995. Its strategic investor is the Spanish company Ferrovial. In 2020, it had PLN 8.38 billion of consolidated revenues.
