Ceska posta is planning to fire around 1,500 employees in time for Christmas in an attempt to improve efficiency. The news was broken by Echo24.cz which cited a letter from the post office in which it warned the Labor Office that employees judged to be surplus to requirements would be served notice in December. The chairwoman of the postal labor union Jindriska Budweiserova confirmed the news for Seznam Zpravy. "Ceska posta is preparing major organizational changes," she said. "From March it wants to cancel working positions. At the same time, however, new positions will be created. We're in the process of negotiating them. We'll be changing the organization of work at post office branches as well as the delivery system and it's necessary to optimize the whole process." She claimed that the unions had not agreed with the firings and that they were fighting for each person.
