CIS Group has signed a contract to construct a 23 MW photovoltaic park in Copșa Mică, marking a significant investment of nearly 100 million lei. The park, expected to be operational early next year, is financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Component C6 – Energy, which supports new renewable energy projects.

The Copșa Mică park, with a 23 MW production capacity and 4 MW of energy storage, will enhance Romania’s renewable energy mix and support the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy. By generating green energy and reducing carbon emissions, the project aims to contribute to environmental sustainability and improve the national energy supply. The storage facility will stabilize energy fluctuations, ensuring a consistent supply even during intermittent production.

CIS Group to Launch Two More Green Energy Projects by Year-End

CIS Group remains committed to its green energy strategy, with plans to develop additional projects in 2024. This includes a 50 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near Târgu Mureș, which will balance grid fluctuations and optimize energy distribution during peak demand. Additionally, construction of a new 5 MW photovoltaic park with a 1 MW storage capacity will begin near Reghin.

“We are investing in Romania’s green future, focusing on reducing reliance on conventional energy sources and fostering environmental protection,” said CIS Group CEO, Sebastian Călugăr. “These projects will significantly impact the economy and local communities, contributing to a sustainable energy future.”
