Czech & Slovak CK Sunflower Tours has ceased operations, according to the insurance company
Travel agency (CK) Sunflower Tours has announced the termination of its activities and is preparing a proposal for insolvency. She urged customers who have purchased a tour departing in the next few days not to travel to the airport as they will not be checked in. She stated this on her website. According to Slavia pojišťovna, with which it is insured in case of bankruptcy, it has 90 clients abroad. People on recreation will be able to finish their stay in their hotels and return to Prague by the originally planned routes. In total, the bankruptcy affects around 300 customers, according to the insurance company's spokesperson Václav Bálek today.
According to CK, losses from the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic and limited travel contributed significantly to the collapse. "Even sales this year did not help to improve the overall financial situation," she announced. He promises to provide information on the next procedure, especially regarding paid advances, on his website.
Bálek stated that Slavia pojišťovna ensured that all clients who remained abroad, through the assistance service, completed their stay and returned to their homeland on the scheduled date. According to Bálk, most of the 300 clients affected by the bankruptcy are those who have paid for the trip but have not yet flown. "The insurance company will return the money to them after the CK declares insolvency and provides it with all the information for the liquidation of this insurance event," he said.
Sunflower Tours focused on holidays in Egypt. It was established in 2015, the CEO is Adel Hussein Korany Hussein. CK started its business in Slovakia, and declared bankruptcy there as well.
According to Andrea Řezníčková, spokeswoman for the Invia travel agency, cases when CK ceases its activities and still has clients abroad occur occasionally. Subsequently, it is decided whether people will complete their stay and when transporting back to the Czech Republic, among other things, it depends on whether the given CK had a pre-purchased flight, she said.
According to the Ministry for Regional Development, there were 583 CCs active in the country as of June 21, six new ones were created since the beginning of the year, seven disappeared and three declared bankruptcy. 36 of them suspended their activities, while 19 resumed business operations.
