Construction companies had 18,000 fewer employees in 2023 than in 2022

The almost 99,000 companies whose CAEN codes can be found in section F – Construction reported for 2023 a cumulative turnover of RON 203.8 billion, up 17 percent compared to the previous year, according to the National Office of the Trade Registry.

The same companies were employers last year for about 44,000 people, a number decreasing by about 18,000 compared to 2022, also shows the information centralized by ONRC.

In terms of number of companies, most (48 percent of the total) are active in the field of construction works of residential and non-residential buildings, and the fewest (1 percent of the total) in the construction of bridges and tunnels.
