Women own or co-own about a third of Czech companies, the remaining two thirds are exclusively owned by men. Of the 461,000 companies owned by a natural person, 313,000 belong to men, 80,000 to women and 68,000 are jointly owned. The share of women's-owned companies has increased slightly in recent years. This follows from CRIF's analysis.

On the one hand, the share of companies exclusively owned by women is growing, on the other hand, the number of companies owned jointly by men and women is decreasing.

"Over the past two years, the number of companies owned only by women has increased by 7,000, or one tenth. The number of male companies has increased by 13,500, while the number of jointly owned companies has decreased by 2,000," said CRIF analyst Věra Kameníčková.

The representation of 'women's' companies is highest in health and social care and other activities, which include the provision of personal services, the lowest in information and communication activities and in construction. Of the health and social care companies, 44 percent are exclusively owned by women, 21 percent are jointly owned and 35 percent belong to men. In contrast, in information and communication activities, only a tenth of companies belong to women and another 12 percent own women together with men.

"This comparison shows that gender differences also play a role in the choice of business. Although it is a simplified view, women more often than men combine their business with caring for others," Kameníčková added. Then there are no significant differences between the individual regions.

Companies that are fully controlled by women have much more often than companies that are controlled by men. This is 87 percent of women's-owned companies, while only 71 percent of male-only companies have one owner.

Businesses owned by women are less risky than those owned by men. "Although the differences are minimal, they are somewhat better based on a comparison of a company owned by women," Kameníčková pointed out. owned exclusively by women, they are thus generally younger than male companies.
