CTP celebrates opening of Central Europe’s most modern office building with drone delivery
CTP celebrated the grand opening of its cutting-edge office building I in Brno’s Vlněna complex on September 12, 2024. The event marked a significant milestone for the developer, showcasing not only the building’s advanced technology but also a futuristic drone mail system with a live demonstration flight. The opening ceremony saw attendance from prominent clients, partners, and local dignitaries.
The 60-meter-high office tower, designed by the acclaimed architectural firm Studio acht, is a testament to innovation, blending modern technology with sustainable design. One of the building’s standout features is its striking glazed “sawtooth” façade, a first in Europe. This unique design maximizes natural light while offering panoramic views of Brno to its occupants. MFS Group, known for its work on projects in London, Amsterdam, and Paris, managed the documentation and implementation of the façade.
“Building I combines cutting-edge design, modern technology, and sustainability,” said Michal Dospěl, CTP’s Director of Construction for the South Moravia region. “Its opening is a pivotal moment for us, and it aligns with our long-term vision of creating spaces that drive the growth of our clients and partners. Brno is a key region for CTP, and we are proud to contribute to the development of its economy and communities.”
The office building incorporates an advanced smart office concept, featuring intelligent systems that enhance both functionality and sustainability. Key innovations include lighting that adjusts based on occupancy to maximize comfort and minimize energy consumption. Air quality control systems also regulate temperature, humidity, and heat recovery. These features make the building a candidate for the highest certifications in sustainability, targeting BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Platinum, and Wiredscore Platinum.
Architect Václav Hlaváček of Studio acht highlighted the project’s architectural and technological achievements: “Building I pushes the boundaries of architecture and technology. We focused not only on aesthetics but also on functionality and sustainability. The iconic glass façade and smart systems create a unique work environment that will serve generations to come.”
The office space has already begun welcoming its first tenants, including energy consulting firm PKV BUILD, which has leased nearly 3,000 square meters across four floors.
A key moment of the opening event was the demonstration of the building’s drone mail system, a first in both the Czech Republic and Europe. A drone successfully delivered the first symbolic shipment to the building’s rooftop, showcasing the potential for future parcel deliveries. The system uses a specially designed Drone Helipad, allowing safe and efficient receipt of deliveries, with navigation supported by advanced LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology.
With the completion of Building I, CTP has further solidified its role as a leader in innovative and sustainable office developments in Central Europe.
