Włodzimierz Czarzasty, deputy speaker of the Sejm and chairman of the Left Party, has emphasized that the demand for constructing low-cost rental housing in Poland stands at approximately PLN 3.5 billion. This figure underscores the growing need for affordable housing solutions amid ongoing discussions about budget allocations for construction projects.

In comments to Polsat News, Czarzasty revealed that the government is currently deliberating the allocation of funds for construction in the upcoming year’s draft budget, which has initially set aside PLN 4.2 billion for this purpose. He suggested that there may be a need to increase this amount to meet the high demand for affordable housing.

Czarzasty explained that the process of building low-cost rental housing involves numerous steps, including applications from local authorities and obtaining building permits. He noted that while the demand is significant, the process is expected to expand as more applications are processed and additional work is undertaken with local authorities.

The Left Party has been a vocal advocate for low-cost housing initiatives, arguing that such projects are essential to addressing housing shortages. Czarzasty also criticized the ‘0% Loan’ initiative, which the Left opposed, citing concerns from experts that it could lead to higher housing prices.

As the government reviews the budgetary framework, Czarzasty’s comments highlight the ongoing efforts to address the housing needs of Polish citizens and ensure that affordable rental options are made available.
