A six-meter-long latticed python was hunted on Monday afternoon by the local fire brigade on the Olše River in Český Těšín in the Karviná region. The snake, which probably escaped from a breeder, was already dead, according to spokesman of the Moravian-Silesian firefighters Petr Kůdela.

A snake floating on the river surface in Český Těšín was noticed by a passer-by and informed the city police. The police then called the fire department. The six-meter-long snake weighed about fifty kilograms. During the intervention, firefighters found out that the animal was dead. "The snake's body, still flexible, pliable, and still without any external signs of decay and damage, was pulled out of the riverbed by the firefighters and placed in a plastic bag in a city police vehicle. According to him, it is not yet known how the snake got into the river and how it perished.

The barred python inhabits Southeast Asia, Indonesia and the Philippines. It prefers waterlogged and coastal forests, wetlands, swamps and rice fields. He climbs trees well and enjoys bathing, often staying in the water for hours.
