The Czech Post wants to sell most of its headquarters in the center of Prague and build a new headquarters in Prague's Vysočany. This was told to the Seznam server by the CEO of the Czech Post, Roman Knap. From the current headquarters in Jindřišská Street in Prague 1, the post office will keep the historic building with a check-in hall. The post office is still preparing a specific layout of parts intended for sale, according to the server, the study should be completed by the end of the year.

According to Knap, the reason for selling most of the current headquarters is mainly savings. "It is a large and expensive building in the city center. With extremely expensive land and traffic. Just keeping the building running costs CZK 40 million a year," Knap told the server.

The new post office is to be established in Vysočany, Prague, where, according to the server, the post office owns a plot of land near Poděbradská Street. "The city district of Prague 9 is currently preparing a contractual relationship that would define the roles of the Czech Post and Prague 9 in the given area, and there has been mutual synergy of projects," Marie Kurková, spokeswoman for the City Hall of Prague 9, told the server. projects along Poděbradská Street also include private developers.

Officials from the headquarters in Jindřišská Street and other post office buildings would move to the Vysočany headquarters. In total, up to 2,000 postal employees are to work in Vysočany. "By the end of the year, we should know how much it will cost," Knap added.

In 2019, the Prague City Hall stated that it was negotiating with the Czech Post about the possible purchase of its headquarters in Jindřišská Street. However, the post office subsequently stated that the building was not for sale. Even then, however, Knap was talking about moving the post office administration to one headquarters in another location. In 2019, Knap mentioned Prague's Malešice as a place for a new headquarters.

According to a List of Reports, Česká pošta also plans to sell the former customs post office building in Plzeňská Street in Prague and other buildings in other regions. Last year, it sold the premises of the former monastery of St. Gabriel in Prague 5 for CZK 353 million. Česká pošta wants to collect billions of crowns from the sale of redundant assets, the server writes. Last year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Czech Post increased its loss by one billion to CZK 1.382 billion. This year, the company wants to return to profit, Matyáš Vitík, a spokesman for the post office, told ČTK in April.
