Czech, Slovak UniCredit Bank ups its net profit by 45% to CZK c4.2 billion in H1

UniCredit Bank in Czechia and Slovakia saw its net profit rise by 45 percent yr/yr to CZK 4.2 billion in the January-June period, the parent company said today.

Other banks in Czechia have not yet published their business results.

Deposits increased by 9.9 percent yr/yr to CZK 485 billion. The volume of loans was 10.8 percent higher at CZK 504 billion.

Net fee and commission income added 19.9 percent yr/yr to almost CZK 2 billion and net interest income posted a rise of 33 percent to CZK 7.7 billion.

The bank's net operating profit grew by 36.8 percent to CZK 6.3 billion.

UniCredit Bank launched operations on the Czech market in November 2007. It was set up through a HVB Bank and Zivnostenska banka merger.

UniCredit Bank has more than 880,000 clients on both markets.
