DHL Express planes have begun landing at the Brno airport two months after the company opened its new logistics hall at the airport. It will be served by a Boeing 737-400F from the company CargoLogic Germany. "This confirms our long-term strategy to turn the Brno airport into a multifunctional complex for all types of air transport," said the airport's board chairman Milan Kratina. He said the new building had been designed to meet all types of logistics uses but with an emphasis on air transport. "I believe that the growth in logistics and on-line shopping will help this connection as it takes off." DHL Express will increase the number of daily flights to Brno match the rising volume of packages in southern Moravia. "All over the world, the online retail numbers have been rising. The trend was already visible in recent years but as a result of Covid-19, the volume of packages has risen faster than expected. That's why new air cargo connections are more important than ever," said DHL Express Czech Republic's director Lukas Drnec.
