Direkt Invest Polen selected JLL to manage its marcredo retail chain in Poland. The chain includes seven retail centers in Kutno, Ciechanów, Szczecin, Piekary Śląskie, Poznań, Józefosław and Lubin. JLL took over the contract from Cushman & Wakefield.

“Shopping centres of the marcredo chain fill the retail gap in smaller cities. They are characterized by a well-balanced tenant mix, very good location and exposure,” said Justyna Williams, director of retail operations at JLL. “We are pleased that we can use our long-standing experience in property management to strengthen the position of marcredo shopping centers in local markets, as well as to increase footfall and the revenue through the implementation of marketing activities, with particular emphasis on sales-focused actions.”

The move follows a reshuffling of the elbfonds group. DIP officially severed ties with elbfonds founder Stephan Groht, after Groht came under heavy fire in May for poor investments in real estate and renewable energy sectors. Stefan Haupt (financial management), Bartosz Babiak (operation and financing) and Piotr Michał Kosmęda (legal and risk management) will continue managing Direkt Invest Polen funds 2, 3, 5 and 7. “We’re responsible for managing assets for our German investors. Our responsibility is to continue this business,” said Kosmęda in May.
