The construction of a new production hall for the Excalibur Army armaments company at its plant in Šternberk, Olomouc, will cost around CZK 650 million, including the installation of technology. The construction will be completed next year and the new plant will employ dozens of people. Excalibur Army posted information about the start of construction on social media. The company manufactures, modernises and repairs military equipment in Šternberk. Excalibur Army belongs to the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) engineering and armaments holding.

The armaments company is building a new hall at the Sternberk plant due to the growing demand for military equipment. "It will be focused on the assembly of wheeled equipment, especially Dita, Dana, Caesar and Morana howitzers, as well as on the assembly of Patriot vehicles, engineer equipment and AM-50, AM-70, TREVA 30 and TRCV 30 recovery equipment," according to the annual report of Excalibur Army.

The company more than doubled its revenues last year to a record 13.506 billion crowns from 2.497 billion crowns in 2021, thanks mainly to deliveries of military equipment to Russia-occupied Ukraine. The arms company's net profit rose sevenfold from 221.8 million crowns in 2021 to 1.656 billion crowns, also the highest ever. Excalibur Army's headcount rose to 524 last year from 487 in 2021.

Most of Excalibur Army's revenue last year came from overseas. Export markets outside the European Union accounted for 9.273 billion kronor in sales, up from 1.364 billion kronor in 2021. For example, the company delivered about 100 pieces of military equipment to Ukraine, including artillery systems, rocket launchers and infantry fighting vehicles in addition to upgraded T-72 tanks. In the Czech Republic, the company made 3.409 billion, triple the amount in 2021. The armaments company delivered CZK 824 million worth of goods to EU customers. In 2021, it made 45.4 million in the EU.

Excalibur Army's plans for this year include the start of mass production of a new 155 mm Dita self-propelled gun howitzer on a modified Tatra chassis. For a foreign customer, the company will produce the first wheeled recovery vehicle of the new generation Treva-30. The development of this new military equipment was completed by Excalibur Army experts last year, when they also tested it.
