After Tuesday's raid in Brno, the prosecutor is requesting custody for two of the eight accused, the others have been released. The police interviewed 30 people, conducted 28 house searches and searches of other premises. State representative Petra Lastovecká from the supervising High Prosecutor's Office in Olomouc reported about this on the website today. The court must decide on the request for custody within 24 hours. The case concerns the Brno-střed town hall and the allocation of city apartments.

"Some of the eight accused have confessed to criminal activity and are cooperating with the police authority and the public prosecutor's office in various ways. After a careful evaluation of the current procedural situation, the public prosecutor submitted proposals to the relevant court to remand the two accused persons. The other accused were released from detention," said its representative office.

In connection with the raid, the High Prosecutor's Office announced on Wednesday the initiation of criminal prosecution against eight people, namely for participation in an organized criminal group, accepting bribes for the benefit of the group and for abuse of the authority of an official. According to the HN.cz server, Otakar Bradáč, a member of the ODS, was one of the accused, and Radim Suchánek, a representative of the ANO movement in Brno-Černovice, who works at the Real Estate Administration in Brno-střed. According to Czech Television, the other detainees were the manager of the Brno real estate agency PJ Reality Zdeněk Červinka and his companion Eva Vágnerová, as well as Kateřina Pospíšilová, Jiří Povolný, Ludvík Kraus and Marek Horvath, who, according to CT, are connected to the Brno real estate market.

Monika Lukášová Spilková, the chairwoman of the control committee of the Brno-střed city hall, told ČTK already on Tuesday that she had long drawn attention to irregularities in the allocation of apartments, but also to strange shifts and subletting of apartments. For example, the apartments were given to family members of politicians or their acquaintances, who skipped other and longer waiting applicants.

In 2019, the so-called Stoka case surfaced in the Brno-střed district. The police then uncovered an organized group that included local politicians from the ANO movement, officials and businessmen. The group influenced public contracts at the town hall. The sentences were handed down in May this year. Former deputy mayor of Brno-střed Jiří Švachula received the highest prison sentence of 9.5 years. The court handed out punishments to eight other people and two companies.
