Former headquarters of Komerční banka Na Příkopě bought by Trinity Bank

The former headquarters of Komerční banka in the centre of Prague on Na Příkopě Street has been bought by Trinity Bank, one of the smaller Czech banking houses. The seller of the listed building was the HausInvest fund from the Commerzbank group. The price of the transaction was not disclosed, but according to a real estate market source it exceeded CZK 2 billion.

The co-owner of Trinity Bank, Radomír Lapčík, said that in addition to the bank's clients, the building in the neighbourhood of Prašná brána would also serve the public. "We want to revive the building and bring it closer to the people of Prague, so we are planning various cultural events, social gatherings and pop-up activities," he said.

Fund Commerz Real Investmentgesellschaft acquired the building with the address Na Příkopě 33 from Société Générale Group, owner of Komerční banka, in 2017. At that time, it paid about one and a half billion crowns.

The building of the former Česká eskomptní banka was built in the 1930s according to plans by architects Karel Jaray and Josef Sakař on the site of a two-storey classical house. It used to house the Café francais, a café frequented by politician and historian František Palacký and, during his stay in Prague, by composer Ferenc Liszt.
