Nearly half of Polish professionals, 44%, have asked for a salary increase in the past 12 months, according to a survey conducted by Hays Poland. More than half of these requests were made within the last six months.

“Employers are largely aware of their employees’ expectations and needs. While many agree to raises, they often expect that these higher costs will need to be passed on to consumers or clients, potentially impacting the company’s competitiveness. Some organizations, however, cannot afford to grant raises at this time, making these decisions difficult but necessary after thorough analysis,” said Aleksandra Tyszkiewicz, Director of CEE at Hays, as quoted in the report.

The survey found that 19% of respondents last discussed a raise over a year or even two years ago, and 12% have never broached the subject.

Among those who asked for a raise over the past two years, 71% were successful in securing higher pay. For those who were denied a raise, 15% opted to leave their employer in search of better financial prospects, while 14% remained at their current job, possibly planning to revisit the topic in the future.

The survey, conducted in September 2024, gathered responses from nearly 900 specialists and managers across various sectors.
