Despite mass redundancies on the horizon, especially in the hospitality sector, Hungarian trade unions are pushing for a rise of minimum wage. On Tuesday employers and employees organisations will meet with government officials to discuss the minimum wage for 2021. Representatives of trade unions want the wages to be well above the inflation rates, at the same time small and medium-sized businesses are arguing that they are struggling to survive during the epidemic, and another pay rise would kill their business.
