IKEA ČR increased sales by 22 percent to CZK 11.9 billion

Furniture chain IKEA CR increased sales by 22 percent to CZK 11.9 billion in the last financial year, which ran from September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022. This is according to the company's press release available to CTK. The company did not provide the financial result. Profit in the previous financial year, which began on 1 September 2020 and ended on 31 August 2021, was about CZK 592 million, according to the annual report in the Collection of Deeds.

Online sales accounted for 22.5 percent of sales last year, IKEA said. Last year, the company introduced Scan and Shop, a chat service with a contact centre, or expanded the number of outlets, now with 23.

This year, IKEA will open new regional planning studios in the Czech Republic, with the first one already in operation since mid-January in the IGY shopping centre in České Budějovice. Customers will be assisted with kitchen or storage planning, the company said. A planning studio in Hradec Králové is expected to open in the spring, the company said.

The renovation of the branch in Brno should be completed early this year, according to IKEA. To save energy in Brno, the company has installed photovoltaics on the roof of the building and purchased heat pumps.

IKEA also plans to introduce new digital services in the Czech Republic this year, including live broadcasts from the stores featuring interior design experts. Customers will also be able to share a shopping list on the website, the company said.

To mark its 80th anniversary this year, IKEA plans to introduce a special retro collection, the company added.
