Poland: Inflation amounted to 4.7% y/y in May; consensus: 4.8% y/y

Consumer inflation was 4.7% annualized in May 2021, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported. Compared to the previous month, the prices of goods and services increased by 0.3%.

In annual terms, the increase in prices of services amounted to 6.8%, and of goods - 4.1%. In terms of m / m it was + 0.3% and + 0.3%, respectively.

In May this year, as compared to the previous month, the highest impact on the consumer price index in general had higher food prices (by 0.6%) and in terms of housing (by 0.4%), which increased this index by 0, 16 percentage points and 0.1 percentage points Lower prices in the field of communication (by 0.9%) and transport (by 0.4%) decreased this indicator by 0.05 percentage points and 0.04 percentage points, respectively.

Compared to the same month of the previous year, higher prices for transport (by 19.5%) and housing (by 5.3%) increased this indicator by 1.62 percentage points, respectively. and 1.32 percentage points were also given.
