Kajima Europe appoints Chris Gill as Managing Director of Partnerships Business
Kajima Europe, the real asset investor, developer, and manager with £10 billion in assets under management across Europe, has appointed Chris Gill as Managing Director of its Partnerships business. This move is part of a broader succession plan aimed at reinforcing the company’s board and leadership.
Kajima Partnerships, the property and project finance investment arm of Kajima Europe, focuses on social infrastructure, renewable energy, and urban regeneration. The division has overseen over £1 billion in social infrastructure projects and has 4GW of renewable energy projects currently in development across Europe.
Chris Gill, who brings over 15 years of experience in real estate investment and asset management with a focus on infrastructure and energy, will lead the growth of Kajima Partnerships. His responsibilities will include overseeing the company’s core sectors, including renewables, regeneration, and social infrastructure, while also managing Kajima’s public-sector software business, Kajima Community. Additionally, he will manage Kajima’s investments and operations in Ireland, where the company is actively financing and developing new social and affordable housing projects.
Gill will continue in his current role as Head of Renewables for Kajima Europe, a position where he has played a pivotal role in launching and expanding the company’s renewable energy business in the UK and Europe.
His appointment comes as part of Kajima Partnerships’ succession plan, which includes new internal promotions. Kevin Hawkins has been named Operations Director and Head of Social Infrastructure, and Christine Phillips has been promoted to Finance Director, further strengthening the leadership team.
Former Managing Director Julian Rudd-Jones, now Senior Advisor at Kajima Europe, praised the appointment: “It’s fantastic that Chris will be leading Kajima Partnerships as we continue our growth trajectory. Since joining us five years ago, Chris has driven our diversification into renewables, and I am confident that his experience and energy will guide the next phase of our development.”
In his new role, Chris Gill expressed enthusiasm for the future: “I’m excited to take on this role as Managing Director of Kajima Partnerships. The company has grown significantly under Julian and Richard’s leadership, and I look forward to working with the team to drive continued success in renewables, regeneration, social infrastructure, and our Kajima Community initiatives.”
Gill’s appointment underscores Kajima’s commitment to growth and innovation as the company continues to strengthen its market position in the UK and Europe.
