The Czech billionaire Petr Kellner has begun the demolition of Hotel Praha in the expensive residential district of Hanspaulka in Prague 6. The hotel was built in the 1970’s to house the country’s Communist elite, along with its guests, however its demise has been criticized by several well-known architects who believe it has great historical value as a demonstration of the Brutalist style.

The investor plans to use the cleared land for the construction of a private school and an expansive park. To achieve this, he’s also purchased the historic Hadovka settlement which served as a residence for the Canadian embassy. Kellner’s personal home is located on the other side of the land plot.
