KIR cleared 176.03 million transactions worth PLN 562.13 billion in April

Krajowa Izba Rozliczeniowa (KIR) processed 176.03 million transactions in the Elixir system with a total value of PLN 562.13 billion in April. 3.13 million messages with a value of EUR 17.5 billion were settled in the Euro Elixir system, which supports domestic and foreign settlements in euro. On the other hand, 8.46 million transactions worth PLN 7.57 billion were settled in the Express Elixir system, the KIR reported.

In April 2021, 176.03 million transactions were settled in the Elixir system, including credits (including credit transfers) and debits (e.g. direct debits) worth PLN 562.13 billion. 166.1 million transactions worth PLN 470.96 billion were settled. This means that the number of transactions increased by 6% in annual terms, and their value by 19.4%. The highest daily number of messages in the Elixir system this month was processed on April 12 - 14.87 million transactions worth PLN 28.51 billion.

In the Euro Elixir system, in April 2021 3.13 million transactions with a total value of EUR 17.5 billion were settled. In the corresponding month of 2020, 2.57 million messages worth EUR 13.58 billion were settled. In annual terms, the number of transactions increased by 21.6%, and the value by 28.8%. In the analyzed month, the record day in terms of the number of cleared messages was April 6 - the system then processed 246.8 thousand. transactions with a total value of EUR 1.29 billion.

In the Express Elixir system, enabling the execution of instant transfers and transfers to a telephone number (between individual users of the BLIK system), in April this year. 8.46 million transactions worth PLN 7.57 billion were settled. In April 2020, 3.76 million transactions worth PLN 4.87 billion were executed in the Express Elixir system. Compared to April 2020, the number of instant transfers made increased by 125%, and the value increased by 55.4%. The highest daily number of transactions this month was made on April 9 - 454.55 thousand transactions were processed at that time. instant transfers with a value of PLN 511.32 million were also indicated.

The National Clearing House was established on the initiative of the National Bank of Poland, the Polish Bank Association and 16 commercial banks in order to digitize and professionalize interbank settlements in Poland. It is a key company servicing the infrastructure of the Polish banking sector.
