Kladno is planning to renovate Svoboda Square in the city centre next year. The reconstruction of the adjacent pedestrian zone of T. G. Masaryk will follow the reconstruction completed last year. This year, the city is continuing to improve other sections of the zone. Svobody Square should also have areas with trees, flowers and lawns in the upcoming design. The cost will amount to around CZK 50 million, most of which should be covered by European subsidies, Mayor Milan Volf (Volba pro město) told reporters today.

The city also commissioned a sociological survey in the spring of 2021, which showed the authors what needs the local residents have and how they perceive this space. "The proposed concept has the ambition to offer a contemporary cultivated public living space with an emphasis on maintaining a large proportion of green space," said Vít Heral, a spokesman for the town hall.

The elaborated study covers the entire area of the square, up to the facades of the adjacent houses and on the north side to the stop edge of Čs. Army.

The continuation of the renewal of the pedestrian zone of T. G. Masaryk in the city centre is one of the biggest investments of Kladno this year. This year, the part from Tyršova Street to Starosty Pavol Square should be repaired, and the city hall management expects the cost to be around CZK 110 million.
