The French group Lactalis Romania, the largest producer in the dairy industry in Romania, is entering a new stage of organization, which is why it will close production in the unit in Miercurea Ciuc. The company will consolidate investments in the other large factories, Oiejdea - Alba county, Sfântu Gheorghe - Covasna county, Câmpulung Moldovenesc - Suceava county and Tunari - Ilfov county.

"This new stage of organizing our activity is part of the Lactalis Group's long-term strategy to consolidate investments and develop businesses in Romania. The final goal we are pursuing is to increase the sustainability of activities on the local market and to further ensure the access of Romanian consumers to the best quality dairy products, made under our brands. As part of this process, the procedure to close the production center in Miercurea Ciuc was also started. Our employees at the facility have been notified and our priority is to support them in the coming period and provide them with all possible support. At the same time, we want to reaffirm our investment and development commitments on the Romanian market, as part of the Lactalis Group's long-term business strategy. We have invested over EUR 60 million in the last 5 years in Romania, and for the current year we have planned investments of over 13 million euros," states Onur Barim, the general director of Grup Lactalis Romania.
