Lantmännen Unibake Romania, one of the most important players in the local bakery market, has begun construction on a new factory in Pantelimon (Ilfov county), where it will produce premium bread specialties.

The new production facility is adjacent to the existing factory, which Lantmännen Unibake Romania purchased six years ago.

"If you had asked me 3 years ago, I would have told you that exports represent 30 percent of production, but now there is 8 percent left, and that's because we prioritize the local market. The new factory helps us continue to be a regional hub and strengthen this position and we will probably be able to reach 25-30 percent exports, but it depends on which customers we will have," says Viorel Ognean, managing director of Lantmännen Unibake Romania.

The company employs 130 people in the Pantelimon factory, and 300 people will be employed in the second factory.
