The chain of DIY stores Leroy Merlin has rented 9,000 sqm in Pitesti Shopping Park, developed by Square 7 Properties, and will open the first store in the locality in the fall of this year. The transaction was brokered by the Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.

"Through the collaboration with Cushman & Wakefield Echinox and Square 7 Properties, we manage to be closer to the residents of Pitesti by opening a store this year. The market in Pitesti is in a continuous expansion, and from the discussions with the residents we know that they are planning small and large renovation/construction projects. We want our business strategy to respond to the needs mentioned by them: investments in people by creating new jobs, adapted product range, digitization and sustainability. We assume the responsibility to come to their aid and with the low prices according to our EDLP - Everyday Low Price policy, to facilitate the realization of the projects", said Mathieu Bauduin, CEO of Leroy Merlin Romania.

"The Romanian retail market continues to enjoy good results and the confidence of retailers, whose national expansion plans are increasingly ambitious, which encourages developers to invest in new projects. In fact, if we look at the retail projects in various stages of construction, their area exceeds 300,000 sqm, and Pitesti is one of the cities that will benefit from some of the most important investments of this type with approximately 75,000 sqm modern retail that will be delivered in 2024", says Bogdan Marcu, Partner Capital Markets Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.

Leroy Merlin has a network of 21 stores nationwide and almost 3,500 employees in 15 cities.
