Swedish furniture manufacturer Ikea will open its first store in Slovenia on Thursday in Ljubljana. The store is still preparing to receive visitors, who will enter the store in the first weeks only with prior reservation. With this move, Ikea wants to avoid excessive crowds in front of the entrance because of the Covid-19 epidemic.

An online store will open at the same time. As explained by Cas Lachaert, store manager in Ljubljana, like any other store of the Swedish company, in addition to standard products, it will also offer products that reflect the local environment.

In addition to furniture, visitors will eventually be able to visit the Ikea restaurant. Due to restrictive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, it will remain closed until further notice.

The store will be able to accommodate 700 people at a time, but it is estimated that customers will stay there for about two hours. The fact that consumers are looking forward to Ikea's first store in Ljubljana shows, among other things, the great interest in their family cards. In the first seven days alone, 45,000 people ordered them, Lachaert said.
