The Mega Image retailer, controlled by the Dutch-Belgian group Ahold Delhaize, closed the store on the ground floor of the Unirea Shopping Center. This was one of the oldest and most famous supermarkets of the chain, opened about 15 years ago.

Mega Image representatives did not provide an answer regarding the closing of the store, however, the representatives from the Mega Image call center confirmed that the store is closed, and that they do not know if the decision is final.

The network's decision to close the unit in Unirea Shopping Center came after in recent years this shopping center lost, one by one, several of its large tenants, led by Zara and Bershka. The decrease in pedestrian traffic in the area, especially in 2020 and 2021, and implicitly in retailer sales, were the main reasons that led to these decisions.
