Mercedes-Benz will invest more than €1 billion in the construction of an electric van factory in Jawor in Lower Silesia in the coming years, Mercedes-Benz Vans director Mathias Geisen announced. A memorandum of understanding was signed today for the development of the factory in Jawor, whose parties also include the Polish government and the Walbrzych Economic Zone.

"Our sector, the transportation sector is changing a lot. We are moving towards purely electric vehicles, towards digital solutions. This is a huge effort for the transportation of the future. This is especially true for commercial vehicles, which is why I am extremely pleased that we have signed a memorandum, an agreement with the Polish government and other business partners, so we will be able to develop our location in Jawor," Gisen said at the ceremony.

"The choice of Jawor as a location clearly shows that we intend to intensify our mutual relations. We intend to invest more than €1 billion precisely in Jawor in the coming years," He stressed.

He noted that the Jawor plant is expected to be the first to produce exclusively electric commercial vehicles.

The Mercedes-Benz electric car engine and battery plant is located in the Jawor municipality, located about 70 km west of Wrocław, within the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone. The plant, within the newly established Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland, produces four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines and electric batteries for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars.
